High Intensity Interval Training

What is High Intensity Interval Training?

You will more than likely have heard of it been called HIIT.

It is short periods of extremely demanding physical activity followed by shorter less intense recovery periods.

There are lots of different versions of HIIT training out there. I personally teach it from Metafit.

Metafit workouts normally last around 20/25 mins. They are really intense and when done properly will push participants to their limits. It is a bodyweight workout and uses variations of exercises like squats, press ups, burpees and tuck jumps alongside core exercises and other exercises to deliver a full body HIIT workout.

MetaPwr is circuit based version of HIIT training. This is different to the original Metafit workouts in several ways. The first one is its done as a circuit therefore people will be doing different exercises rather than everyone doing the same thing. The second version is it doesn't just use bodyweight, so expect to see kettlebells, slam balls, weighted bags and battle ropes in this fun but intense workout.

MetaPro was the final Metafit course I attended. This course was made up of three different workouts.

Pro12 is a 12 minute more intense version of Metafit. These really push you to the limit when done properly.

MetaPT is a longer version of metafit designed to be done on a one to one basis as a personal training session. These are perfect for people who are struggling with the techniques of the moves in metafit to be able to work one on one to perfect them.

SAQ is a speed and agility session. These can work perfectly as conditioning sessions within sports. An example of this could be burpees followed by running across a room/field to do more burpees again.

HIIT training when done right can be an extremely effective workout. I would recommend training in this way no more than 3 times a week and making sure you are doing some other forms of cardiovascular training and resistance training alongside to get the best results.

Want to have a go and see what its like drop me a message and we can get a session set up, the more the merrier and cheaper it would be when sharing the cost.
